Dear Red Hot Chili Peppers

With reports of John Frusciante having left Red Hot Chili Peppers, the musical community is divided. Dine Alone Records published an entry on their blog on the matter.
Dear Red Hot Chili Peppers,

The musical community is hoping that you will take some time to recognize that everything in life has a time and place: relationships, technology, produce, employment - everything around us has a time – an expiry date. Life, itself, has a determined time. Many people like to extend that time. They take advantage of the time allotted towards a specific chapter in their short lived stories. That’s how good people can find themselves in bad relationships or bad bands continue to make music, its an abuse of your given time.

There are many unwritten laws we all live by to govern these moments that have a beginning and and an end. There are two that apply to this situation: “too soon” and “too long”.

The “Too Soon” unwritten law is when bands bust out covers of contemporary songs within the genre that they are trying to break into. Too Soon is remaking a brilliant UK movie two years later to appeal to the USA market (Death and a Funeral...go see the original now, before its too late.) So many “too soons” from jokes about someone who just died or anal on the first date, you guys are the second unwritten law to help govern these moments of time “too long”.

The “Too Long” unwritten law refers to the group of guys that has taken their allotted time and just stretched it past its expiry date. Not many great things come out of “two long”. Usually things go moldy, expire, and the reaction to too long is sickness. When things like relationships go unnoticed people become something they are not, its all super negative. RHCP, your attempt at a double album - I found very abusive of your given time with the public. Fortunately for you, the public was abusing their time with you, but, I just expected more from you guys, ya know. You are in an abusive relationship with the fans. You have become background noise. Suburban wives and the 9-5’ers know your name and they might be able to lips sync your oh so famous urban scatting, but the sun is up, you vampires of time.

Like all the many people that got tattoos of the Chili Peppers logo in the early 90’s, they have realized now that when they got it, it was too soon for that commitment. Now they are realizing that maybe they have had it too long and are getting them removed. Yes guys, the scar tissue will be there for life but they at least recognized their time and are making a change.

DA

PS For those of who that might be offended by this, which I am sure is limited these days, two words........“Stadium Arcadium”
